Fred's Obit

Have you ever wondered what someone might write about you at your death?  I have ( I KNOW…I am pretty self centered)…so…just so yaw all don’t mess it up…here is the obituary that I would like for you to publish and read for me:

Wilfred Frank Marks, died peacefully at home while watching the Big Red. NU beat OU for the Big 12 Championship!  (The previous sentence can be adapted depending on the outcome.  LOL J)

The Husker’s were always in Fred’s heart and win or lose…he watched every game until the bitter end.  Fred died after a long struggle with NU football disease.

Fred was born 29 November 1959 in Omaha, NE to Frank Peter Marks and Jeanne Marks who both preceded him on the path to Heaven. Fred Marks was born and raised a proud HUSKER. He served his country as a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard and retired after 21 years.  Go Guard!!! www.goguard.com

Fred was a much loved and admired member of the world who will be remembered for his patience, kindness, intelligence, quick wit, and desire to help those in need. In addition to spending time with family, he enjoyed military documentaries, golfing, biking, current events, and loved a good piece of pie at VI. He is also well known for his opinion and his Letters to the Editor of the Lincoln Journal-Star and letters to his representatives in Lincoln, Nebraska and Washington DC.

As a young man, Fred was also known to have some golf talent.  As a 14 year old he established an official course record at the Jim Ager Memorial Golf course of 23 for nine holes.  He also established an official course record of 49, at the same course, for 18 holes. He also shot Par: 72 at age 14 at Holmes Golf Course in Lincoln, NE.    Nebraska golfers that he considered friends were Jeanne Marks, Tim Hanrahan, Silvia Hanrahan, Larry Romjue, Bob Schuhart, Mike Schuhart, Knox Jones, and Greg Boosalis among many others.

Fred also loved music…he listened to music and enjoyed playing as well. His favorite band was the Beatles, but he also enjoyed a wide variety of other music!

Last, but not least, Fred enjoyed many years of clean and sober time as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.  Fred requests for everyone to pray for and love every still suffering Alcoholic/Addict.  God bless each and every one of you!

Fred is survived by friend and ex-wife: Carol; son: Jamison; daughter: Julia and her boyfriend; beloved step-daughter and step-son: Andrea and Dylan and beloved grandson: Tee Zee (Tellis Hall, Jr.)! Fred is also survived by sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and greats and 2nds of all kinds.  Love to you all from Fred!

Memorial donations may be made to the Lincoln AA Central Office or the Partners In Recovery Foundation (www.PartnersInRecovery.info). Please carry on messages of hope for families that are still suffering!

Yours truly,

Fred Marks

P.S.  I knew I was going to die someday.  Don’t be sad, be glad!  I am with my Maker!
