The Story of Sam Brown !!!

A Poem by Paige about Meth Kids:

Safety!

A week ago Tuesday the crystal meth anonymous meeting at Antlers treatment center was on a "snow day"  due to terrible weather conditions.

I had a feeling that the "Recovery Village Art Club" would still be meeting. It met on Christmas night and it met on New Years night. My intuition was right.

The night watchman said, "I saw the buggies parked outside in the snow."

They all got here.

On foot.

Pushing strollers.

In 25 year old cars.

Stamping snow off, laughing and greeting each other.

On an adventure, like pioneer sisters coming to grandmas house.

A pile of coats, a pile of boots.

Esperanza was back

And Issak.

Victoria is three. She helped with the smaller ones who can't talk yet. She can translate for them.

The older girls were on the job.

Playing school.

Playing house.

Helping kids paint and put on costumes.

Directing traffic of little push toys manned by toddlers.

This Tuesday, one of the men brought an armload of white long stemmed roses. Another wrote them a song called, "Love will always win"

The "moms off meth" each carried a rose as they gathered up their children - with hugs and smiles for everyone and exclaimations over the beauty of cards and paintings made for them by tiny hands.

Tiny hands who have known terror.

And have found safety.
